I was hired by Warrior One MMA to steer their brand in a new direction, starting with their last event: Reloaded.

The changes began online with an complete overhaul of their website: developing UI elements, and changing the design direction. The project continued with leading designers and developers through each stage of an extended promotional campaign, up to the actual event.

One of the biggest learning opportunities I took away from this experience was that live fight events are always in a perpetual state of change (even more so than music events). Fighters were being signed/replaced/swapped up to the last available moment (before we could go live, or go to print).

I personally thrive when I’m thinking on my feet and problem-solving on the fly. However, in this case, my vendors and talent were 2000 km away. Needless to say, the intensity level was amped up a notch or two.

If you ever want to test your professional mettle, run the design/marketing side of an MMA event.
